Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Victor Melo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, JG SCR!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
SCR tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

SCR gets in close and instigates a clinch.
SCR manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Melo drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
SCR looking to throw knees to the head but Melo is blocking nicely.

Melo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

SCR wants to get up but he can't break Melo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
SCR must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Melo is going olschool here, as he tries to force SCR to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so SCR shrugs it off.

Melo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
