The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Layne swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Silva counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Layne!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Chris Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

and Silva counters with an outside leg kick.

Silva closes the distance and pushes Layne back into the cage.
Layne drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Silva gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Layne tries to pull guard but Silva won't allow it.

Silva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A punch combination from Layne misses.
David Layne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Layne has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Silva is working away from the top position though.
Layne looks like he's trying to stand up.
Layne wants to improve his position but Silva is controlling well.

Silva moves into full mount! Layne won't be happy about that!

Well Silva has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
