PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pantero Athrox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roidger Palmeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palmeiro is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bully. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Athrox moves out of range as Palmeiro strikes.
Palmeiro misses with a double jab.
Athrox throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Palmeiro's waist but Palmeiro gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Athrox off to one side.
Palmeiro throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Athrox tries to close the distance and clinch up but Palmeiro swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Palmeiro throws a jab when Athrox was well out of range.
Athrox fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Palmeiro keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Athrox throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Athrox ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Pantero Athrox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Palmeiro throws a nice looking combination but Athrox bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Athrox moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Palmeiro rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Athrox moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Palmeiro throws out a powerful jab.
Athrox shoots in and drives through. Palmeiro sprawls well.
Athrox fails to land the takedown.
Palmeiro lands with a nice combination. Athrox backs away looking to recover.
Palmeiro misses with a wild combination.
Athrox is looking to clinch but Palmeiro is avoiding it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roidger Palmeiro dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Athrox shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Palmeiro sprawls well. Palmeiro wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Athrox gets slowly back to his feet.

Athrox closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Athrox thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Palmeiro is looking to reverse the position.
Palmeiro wants to control but Athrox postures up.

Palmeiro tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Athrox wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Palmeiro is breathing heavily.

Athrox is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Palmeiro is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Palmeiro looks to move to half guard but instead Athrox has passed into mount! Damn!
Palmeiro throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Palmeiro tries to hold on but Athrox postures up.
Palmeiro really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Palmeiro tries to control Athrox's body but Athrox pushes him off. Palmeiro squirms to his side and now Athrox has his back!

Palmeiro is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Athrox gets his way!

Palmeiro tries to escape but Athrox has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Palmeiro is trying to stand back up.

Athrox is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Palmeiro is defending well though. Athrox let's go of the attempt for now.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Athrox tries to keep control of the position but Palmeiro is staying busy.

Palmeiro won't enjoy being in this position. Athrox looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Palmeiro is tapping - it's over boys! Athrox picks up the submission victory!
