PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between uno dance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Herbie Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawkins has chosen ice ice baby as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, uno dance!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Herbie Hawkins!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawkins darts in and clinches dance up against the cage.
Hawkins has had enough of the clinch but dance keeps him there for the moment.
Hawkins wants to break free but dance has control.
dance lands an elbow just above Hawkins 's eye.
Hawkins is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Hawkins wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Hawkins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

dance gets caught flat footed, as Hawkins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
dance bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hawkins's guard.
dance sitting in guard here, content to control.

Hawkins looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hawkins looking for a sweep. Not yet Hawkins, not yet.

dance drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and dance jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Hawkins wants to stand and escape but dance is having none of it.

Hawkins wants to hit a switch here but dance passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hawkins there!
Hawkins is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
dance can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hawkins is looking to escape.

dance has hold of Hawkins's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hawkins manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hawkins is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
dance tries to control but Hawkins wriggling away.
dance sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Hawkins is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Hawkins is trying to reverse the position but instead dance has taken his back - oops!

Hawkins is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if dance gets his way!
Hawkins tries to roll but dance sticks to his back.

dance wants to control but Hawkins manages to buck him off and is now in dance's guard! Nice work there by Hawkins!

Hawkins controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
dance keeping moving, preventing Hawkins from controlling successfully.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hawkins stuffs the takedown attempt from dance. dance gets slowly back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hawkins moves in looking to clinch but dance pushes him off.
Hawkins wants to slow dance down by chopping away at his legs.
dance fails to land the takedown.
Hawkins throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hawkins fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Herbie Hawkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hawkins scores a takedown into full mount!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hawkins jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… dance is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by dance and Hawkins has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Hawkins wants to stand but dance has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Herbie Hawkins dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


dance throws a head kick that Hawkins semi-blocks.
dance looks to land a combination but Hawkins avoids it well.
Hawkins tries to clinch up.
Hawkins falls off balance throwing a combination
and dance counters with a stiff right hand.
Hawkins lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but dance circles away quickly and effectively.
dance blocks a head kick by Hawkins.
dance misses with a body kick.
Hawkins looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? dance is fending him off so far but Hawkins persists. Nope, dance circles away and we're back to standing.
Hawkins throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hawkins is breathing heavily.
dance will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

dance fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hawkins closes the distance looking to clinch

and dance moves into the clinch.

Hawkins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

dance gets caught flat footed, as Hawkins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Hawkins stands and steps away. dance gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
uno dance is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hawkins throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and dance counters with a nice body kick.
dance throws a right hand that Hawkins ducks under and follows up with a left that Hawkins also avoids with ease.

dance gets caught flat footed, as Hawkins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
dance seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Hawkins trying to stand up but can't free himself from dance's guard.

dance pulls Hawkins in to control the position.
dance might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hawkins wants to stand and escape but instead dance has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Hawkins throws his legs up looking for a submission but dance uses it to pass to side control.

You can see the frustration on Hawkins's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hawkins looks to move to half guard but instead dance has passed into mount! Damn!
dance takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hawkins tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hawkins tries to hold on but dance pushes him away.
Hawkins is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Hawkins with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Hawkins is looking to clinch but dance is avoiding it.
Hawkins misses with a few strikes there.
dance tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hawkins swivels and escapes.
dance throws a lazy head kick

and Hawkins counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hawkins must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hawkins looking to sit in guard and control but dance gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hawkins throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! dance escapes and throws Hawkins's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Hawkins swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and dance counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

dance seems to be working for a kimura but Hawkins defends the submission attempt.
dance takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Hawkins is trying to stand back up but dance is controlling him

Hawkins with the active half guard here but dance passes nicely into side control.
dance is looking to take a break and control but Hawkins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
dance drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hawkins pulls his leg out and moves away.
Hawkins's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Hawkins duly obliges.
Hawkins fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
uno dance has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Herbie Hawkins.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from dance.
Hawkins closes the distance looking to clinch
and dance counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Hawkins is lucky that one didn't land flush.


It looks like Herbie Hawkins has been cut.
Hawkins cracks dance with a right hand to the side of the head.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hawkins looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

And that's the end of the fight!
uno dance showed his dominance in that final round.
I think dance has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
