Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Max Cavalera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cavalera shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Cavalera wants to get back to his feet.

Sanchez is defending against the submission attempts here by Cavalera.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cavalera drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cavalera jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sanchez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cavalera can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cavalera gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Cavalera looks for a takedown but Sanchez sprawls well.
No joy there for Sanchez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Sanchez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Cavalera is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sanchez is fighting off a takedown attempt but Cavalera is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sanchez to the mat. Sanchez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Cavalera is breathing heavily.

Sanchez is working an open guard so Cavalera takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Cavalera closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sanchez is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Cavalera has managed to free his arm - good work.
Sanchez wants to pass the guard but Cavalera is defending well.
Sanchez moves nicely into side control.

Sanchez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sanchez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sanchez is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Cavalera has managed to free his arm - good work.

Sanchez is working for a submission of some sort.

Sanchez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Sanchez is looking for a kimura but Cavalera is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sanchez to get the leverage.

Cavalera has one foot on Sanchez's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cavalera swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Sanchez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cavalera won't be happy with that.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sanchez drops back looking for a leg! Cavalera is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cavalera manages to kick Sanchez off! Sanchez jumps back into Cavalera's guard.
Sanchez postures up in Cavalera's guard and throws a big left but Cavalera blocks it.
Cavalera utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Cavalera is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Cavalera wants to sweep but no luck.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cavalera wants to stand but Sanchez is controlling the position.

Sanchez drops back looking for a leg! Cavalera is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cavalera manages to kick Sanchez off! Sanchez jumps back into Cavalera's guard.

Sanchez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Cavalera avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sanchez postures up in Cavalera's guard and throws a big left but Cavalera blocks it.

Sanchez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Cavalera closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sanchez to the mat! Sanchez manages to get full guard.

Cavalera decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sanchez, up you get!

so Sanchez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Sanchez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cavalera is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cavalera has escaped and now he's on top!

Sanchez pushes a forearm under Cavalera's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Cavalera is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
