And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Dixon both land. Nice combination.
Griffin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

and Dixon counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Griffin thinking.
Griffin swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Dixon counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Dixon lands a right hook to the body.
Peter Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dixon fails with a takedown attempt.
Griffin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Dixon counters with a nice uppercut.

Dixon shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Griffin napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dixon decides to stand up, so the ref orders Griffin to his feet.
Griffin misses with a jab to the body
and Dixon counters with a right hand to the body.

Dixon decides to stand back up. Dixon steps back and let's Griffin get back to his feet.
Griffin closes the distance but Dixon moves to the side

and Dixon counters with a takedown into side control.

Dixon looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Dixon is looking to take a break and control but Griffin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dixon has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Griffin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dixon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dixon wants to control the pace but Griffin is squirming around nicely.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Griffin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Dixon goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Griffin is on top in guard.
Dixon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Griffin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Dixon manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dixon with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Dixon is going olschool here, as he tries to force Griffin to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Griffin shrugs it off.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dixon looking to control but Griffin is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Dixon throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Griffin has his hands clasped together but Dixon breaks the hold and Griffin is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Dixon!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mason Dixon!
