PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boby Sapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knockyo Assout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Assout is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Mamma Said Knock You Out. Knockyo Assout will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sapp drives through with a takedown into guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sapp throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Assout's waist but Assout gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sapp off to one side.
Assout lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sapp backs up against the cage.

Assout lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Assout bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sapp's head backwards.
Sapp throws a right and a left that Assout avoids nicely.
Assout on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Assout fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Sapp takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Assout throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Assout fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sapp.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Assout lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Assout swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Assout pushes Sapp off and gets back to his feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sapp is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Assout.
Assout throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Sapp takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Assout looks to land a combination but Sapp avoids it well.

Assout has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Sapp decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Sapp tries to score a power double leg takedown but Assout sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sapp somewhat.
Knockyo Assout is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sapp stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Assout.
Sapp changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Assout tries to avoid it but Sapp manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Assout to the ground. Assout escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sapp shoots in and drives through. Assout sprawls well.

Assout turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Assout looks to land a combination but Sapp avoids it well.
Assout is looking to chop away at Sapp's legs.
Knockyo Assout seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Sapp uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Assout.

Sapp closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Assout wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Assout is trying to maintain the position but Sapp is very close to passing his half guard.
Sapp stops Assout from getting back to his feet.
Assout really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sapp. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Assout is trying to stand up here but Sapp is controlling him well.

Knockyo Assout showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Assout throws a big shot that misses.
Sapp misses with a body shot.
Assout will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Assout. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Sapp shoots for a double leg takedown but Assout sprawls well. He's pushed Sapp's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Boby Sapp has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Assout has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Sapp will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
