The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Jonesy. No joy for Maia on that attempt.
Maia misses with a takedown attempt - Jonesy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Maia shoots in for a double leg but Jonesy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
David Jonesy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucifer Maia.
Jonesy lands a nice leg kick that just misses Maia's sensitive parts.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Jonesy.
A head kick misses from Jonesy.
Maia closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jonesy to the mat! Jonesy manages to get full guard.

Jonesy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Maia manages to get himself to full guard.
Jonesy content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maia looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Jonesy passes into side control.

Jonesy works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jonesy has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Maia is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Jonesy yanks on the arm and Maia is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Jonesy.
