Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Slipp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Pilgrim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Slipp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Scott Pilgrim!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slipp looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pilgrim is fending him off so far but Slipp persists. Nope, Pilgrim circles away and we're back to standing.
Pilgrim tries to close the distance and clinch up but Slipp swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Slipp shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pilgrim as he avoids it easily.

Pilgrim gets the takedown into side control.
Slipp tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pilgrim wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Pilgrim is trying to get an arm triangle but Slipp is defending well.
Slipp struggling a bit here.
Pilgrim is looking to take a break and control but Slipp is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Slipp is looking for a sweep.
Pilgrim tries to move into full mount but can't pass Slipp's legs.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Slipp has his takedown stuffed

and Pilgrim counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Slipp's guard now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Slipp. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pilgrim trying to control the position from guard on top but Slipp is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Slipp will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Pilgrim stands and steps away. Slipp gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Slipp shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Pilgrim counters with a solid body kick.

Slipp closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Slipp is breathing heavily.
Pilgrim is trying to control but can't.
Slipp is trying to control. Pilgrim wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pilgrim is looking for a sweep. Slipp is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Slipp trying to control the pace.
Slipp wants to control but Pilgrim is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pilgrim is pressing down on Slipp's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Pilgrim bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Slipp's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pilgrim tries to free his leg and advance position but Slipp is retaining full guard.

Slipp is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Slipp has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pilgrim can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Slipp looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Pilgrim passes into half guard.
Pilgrim is thwarting Slipp's attempts to control the position.
Slipp wants to improve his position but Pilgrim is controlling well.
Pilgrim trying to control the action but Slipp is working from the bottom.
Pilgrim slows the pace down in half guard.
Pilgrim wants to take a breather but Slipp is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Slipp is pressing down on Pilgrim's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Slipp is looking to sinch up a triangle. Pilgrim throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Slipp's body to avoid the submission. Slipp has instead reached around Pilgrim's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Slipp arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). James Slipp!
