PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brody Peck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stoner McWeeder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brody Peck looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brody Peck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stoner McWeeder!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McWeeder.
Peck gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and McWeeder counters with a nice leg kick.
Peck swats away the attempt to clinch by McWeeder.
McWeeder throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Peck's waist but Peck gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McWeeder off to one side.
Peck misses with a takedown
and McWeeder counters with a left and a right that stings Peck.
Peck is breathing heavily.
McWeeder works Peck's body with a nice hook.
McWeeder throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Peck's waist but Peck gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McWeeder off to one side.
Brody Peck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stoner McWeeder.
Peck looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McWeeder is fending him off so far but Peck persists. Nope, McWeeder circles away and we're back to standing.
McWeeder lands with a nice combination. Peck backs away looking to recover.

and McWeeder counters with a nice uppercut.
Stoner McWeeder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McWeeder throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

McWeeder fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Peck, pushing him back against the cage.
McWeeder tries to break the clinch but Peck is controlling the position.

McWeeder jumps into guard, dragging Peck to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McWeeder has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Peck can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
McWeeder tries to strike from the bottom.
Peck won't allow McWeeder to get back to his feet.
Peck stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McWeeder swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McWeeder is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

McWeeder pushes Peck off and scrambles back to his feet.
McWeeder takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Peck blocks a head kick by McWeeder.
McWeeder stalks Peck and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Peck's face. Peck staggers backwards, shaken.
McWeeder fails in his attempt to clinch.
McWeeder feints and then cracks Peck's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Peck down.
No luck for McWeeder with that takedown attempt.
McWeeder throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Peck takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
McWeeder goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
McWeeder lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Peck slips a jab and a cross from McWeeder.

Peck gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Peck lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McWeeder!

Peck has hold of McWeeder's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and McWeeder manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
McWeeder really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peck. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Peck is going olschool here, as he tries to force McWeeder to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McWeeder shrugs it off.
McWeeder is squirming around, avoiding Peck's attempts to control the action.
Peck prevents McWeeder from getting the reversal.
McWeeder tries to hold on but Peck pushes him away.

Stoner McWeeder dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


McWeeder throws a series of punches but Peck moves out of range.

McWeeder has Peck up against the cage in a clinch.
Peck is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McWeeder pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Peck drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McWeeder gets the underhooks and prevents it.

McWeeder breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peck walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McWeeder throws a leg kick that misses.
McWeeder throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Peck's waist but Peck gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McWeeder off to one side.
Horrible takedown by McWeeder or perhaps it was just good defense by Peck which made him look bad.

McWeeder connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Peck tries to hold on but McWeeder postures up.
Peck tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Peck wants to control but McWeeder is having none of it.
Peck is squirming around, avoiding McWeeder's attempts to control the action.

McWeeder blocks Peck's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Peck is wriggling around trying to escape.

Poor strikes thrown by McWeeder there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

McWeeder goes for an armbar but Peck turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Peck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McWeeder keeping moving, preventing Peck from controlling successfully.
Peck tries to free his leg and advance position but McWeeder is retaining full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
McWeeder wants to stand and escape but Peck is having none of it.
Peck advances position into side control!
McWeeder gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Peck tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Stoner McWeeder will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

McWeeder is trying to break free.

McWeeder's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A nice leg kick lands there from McWeeder.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A thudding body kick lands there by McWeeder!
Peck takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

McWeeder darts in and clinches Peck up against the cage.

McWeeder breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McWeeder lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
McWeeder fails with the takedown

and Peck counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Peck is looking to work some ground and pound but McWeeder has wrist control.
McWeeder wants to sweep here but Peck controlling him for the moment.

Peck trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Peck lands a couple of elbows.
Peck is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Peck shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McWeeder as he jumps to the side.

A decent looking cross lands there for McWeeder.

and McWeeder counters with a nice double leg into side control. Peck won't be happy with that.
Peck is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Peck is trying is best to control the position here.

Peck is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McWeeder is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Peck slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Brody Peck has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Peck escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McWeeder gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brody Peck.
I think McWeeder has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
