McKenzie has chosen Norma Jean- Memphis Will be Laid to Waste as his entrance music. Paul McKenzie has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Hugo Wennstrom's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul McKenzie!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKenzie connects with a good right hand that stumbles Wennstrom. Wennstrom circles away out of range and recomposes himself.


It looks like Hugo Wennstrom has been cut.
Wennstrom scores with a shot to the body.
McKenzie scores with the left hand. Wennstrom knows he should have avoided that one.
Wennstrom throws a series of punches but McKenzie moves out of range.
Wennstrom throws the left hand but McKenzie avoids the punch easily.
A big right from Wennstrom misses.

McKenzie pushes Wennstrom up against the cage in a clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

McKenzie manages to break the clinch.
Wennstrom loads up on a big right hand but McKenzie slips the punch.
Wennstrom misses with a jab, cross combination.
McKenzie showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Wennstrom.
Wennstrom misses with a looping left.
McKenzie works over Wennstrom's head and body with a nice combination.
McKenzie throws a right hand that Wennstrom ducks under and follows up with a left that Wennstrom also avoids with ease.
Wennstrom avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
McKenzie avoids the head kick by Wennstrom.
Wennstrom scores with a one two! McKenzie had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McKenzie lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

McKenzie lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Wennstrom sprawling to the canvas. McKenzie follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Wennstrom hang on?


Wennstrom is rocked!
McKenzie moves nicely into side control.
Oh Wennstrom is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
McKenzie controls the position.
Wennstrom seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McKenzie swings around for an armbar but Wennstrom sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into McKenzie's guard.

McKenzie had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Wennstrom is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. McKenzie Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Wennstrom's back instead.
McKenzie is looking to control Wennstrom but Wennstrom is wriggling around and keeping busy.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Wennstrom tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
McKenzie controlling his opponent.
McKenzie trying to control but Wennstrom is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Paul McKenzie just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McKenzie avoids a punch combination nicely.
A jab lands there for Wennstrom.
Wennstrom swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and McKenzie connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


Hugo Wennstrom's cut is getting worse.
Wennstrom misses with a double jab
and McKenzie counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Wennstrom swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and McKenzie counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
McKenzie connects with a looping right hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wennstrom slips a jab and a cross from McKenzie.
McKenzie punishes Wennstrom's body with a nice straight punch.

McKenzie closes the distance and clinches.

McKenzie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul McKenzie dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Hugo Wennstrom's cut.
That's time! Wennstrom's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


McKenzie tries to bum rush Wennstrom with a series of wild strikes but Wennstrom uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McKenzie dodges the punch combination from Wennstrom.
Wennstrom takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

McKenzie darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
McKenzie is pressing down on Wennstrom's thigh, looking to free his foot. Wennstrom is holding on for now.

McKenzie is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
McKenzie takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

McKenzie wants to free his trapped foot but Wennstrom is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Wennstrom is looking to improve his position.

McKenzie is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Still in half guard, McKenzie seems content to control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Wennstrom throws a left and a right that both miss
and McKenzie counters with a lovely shot to the body.
The fighters circling - McKenzie throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Wennstrom moves into range and connects with a jab.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from McKenzie is defended easily by Wennstrom.

McKenzie waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Wennstrom.

McKenzie fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Wennstrom, pushing him back against the cage.

McKenzie manages to break the clinch.
Hugo Wennstrom is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McKenzie is breathing heavily.
Wennstrom throws a head kick but McKenzie moves out of range.
Hugo Wennstrom is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wennstrom ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McKenzie moves away.
McKenzie takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
McKenzie throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Wennstrom scores with a sloppy right hand. McKenzie should have avoided that one.
Wennstrom throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Wennstrom connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed McKenzie momentarily.

Wennstrom goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Wennstrom lands with a nice combination. McKenzie backs away looking to recover.
McKenzie throws a good cross that connects.
McKenzie throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McKenzie ducks under a wild hook from Wennstrom.

McKenzie drives through with a takedown into guard.
McKenzie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

McKenzie fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Wennstrom looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wennstrom pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McKenzie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
McKenzie slips a jab and a cross from Wennstrom.
Hugo Wennstrom is winning the standup battle so far.
McKenzie's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and McKenzie duly obliges.
Wennstrom throws a nice looking combination but McKenzie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

McKenzie throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Wennstrom on the side of the head.

McKenzie has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Wennstrom clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wennstrom looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Will McKenzie go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Paul McKenzie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well McKenzie has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
