PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Billy Ba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bo Nastie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Nastie's choice of entrance music: Roots Bloody Roots by Sepultura. Bo Nastie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 2, fighting out of New York, Bo Nastie!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Reed Andrews and Franklyn Lucas.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ba throws a series of punches but Nastie moves out of range.
Nastie moves in looking to clinch but Ba pushes him off.
Ba connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Ba closes the distance and clinches up with Nastie, looking for a takedown. Ba pushes Nastie against the cage but Nastie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Nastie tries to keep at a distance but Ba has taken the fight into the clinch.

Nastie's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Ba shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nastie manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Ba has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nastie is proving hard to escape from.
Ba stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nastie swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ba tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Nastie has Ba up against the cage in a clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Ba using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Nastie has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Nastie keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ba's efforts to push away.
Nastie tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ba just stands there and leans against the cage.
Ba blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Nastie has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ba is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Ba has control of Nastie's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Nastie regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Ba throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Nastie because Ba loaded up on that one.

Ba throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nastie's waist but Nastie gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ba off to one side.

Ba stalks Nastie and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Nastie's face. Nastie staggers backwards, shaken.
Ba fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nastie manages to avoid it.

Nastie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nastie showed some decent athleticism there.
