PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Urinus Limberdinkle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Hopper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Limberdinkle's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, BLUNT- "The Iron Maiden". Derek Hopper is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Urinus Limberdinkle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derek Hopper!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jorge Garcia and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopper fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Hopper misses with a low kick as Limberdinkle jumps back.
Hopper tries a head kick but it misses.
Hopper wants to clinch up but Limberdinkle keeps it at a distance.
Hopper throws a jab when Limberdinkle was well out of range.
Limberdinkle blocks a jab.
Limberdinkle throws a leg kick but Hopper sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Hopper misses the shot to the body.

Limberdinkle closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hopper did well to prevent Limberdinkle getting side control.
Hopper pushes Limberdinkle off looking to stand but Limberdinkle dives back in and keeps control.

Limberdinkle wants to work for an arm triangle but Hopper is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hopper wants to improve his position but Limberdinkle is controlling well.
Hopper is not content to let Limberdinkle control the position.

Hopper pushes Limberdinkle off and gets back to his feet.
Hopper looks to land a combination but Limberdinkle avoids it well.
Limberdinkle swats away the attempt to clinch by Hopper.

Hopper looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Limberdinkle has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hopper is working away from the top position though.
Hopper wants to stand but Limberdinkle has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Hopper thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Limberdinkle to regain full guard.
Limberdinkle looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Limberdinkle is on top in guard.
Hopper can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Limberdinkle controls the pace.

Limberdinkle might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Limberdinkle avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hopper misses with a leg kick
and Limberdinkle counters with a head kick. That will keep Hopper thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Limberdinkle shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Hopper lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Limberdinkle.
Nice uppercut lands for Hopper. That snapped Limberdinkle's head back.
Limberdinkle avoids the body shot from Hopper.

Limberdinkle closes the distance and clinches.

Hopper blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Limberdinkle is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Hopper is keeping busy.

Hopper is pressed up against the cage. Limberdinkle has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hopper down to the mat. Hopper avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Derek Hopper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Limberdinkle thumps Hopper with a low kick.
Limberdinkle tries to clinch but Hopper is having none of it.
Limberdinkle thows a body kick. Hopper tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Limberdinkle scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Limberdinkle feints and then cracks Hopper's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hopper down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Limberdinkle has Hopper up against the cage in a clinch.
Hopper prevents the takedown attempt.

Limberdinkle manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Limberdinkle has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hopper has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Limberdinkle is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Hopper has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Hopper is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Limberdinkle gets his way!

Limberdinkle biding his time, looking for the opening.
Will Limberdinkle go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Urinus Limberdinkle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Limberdinkle is looking to control Hopper but Hopper is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Hopper paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Hopper tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Limberdinkle counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Limberdinkle tries to score a body lock takedown but Hopper shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Limberdinkle is trying to drag Hopper to the mat but Hopper just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Hopper is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Urinus Limberdinkle is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Hopper is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

and Limberdinkle counters by moving into the clinch.
Hopper's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Come on Limberdinkle - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Hopper is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Urinus Limberdinkle showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Limberdinkle has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
