Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Nilsen!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller gets a takedown into half guard.

Nilsen is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Miller pulls his head out easily.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Miller in particular looking to stall.
Miller works his way into full mount!
Nilsen is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Miller content just to control the position here.
Miller moves to take his opponent's back.

Miller controlling the position well here. Nilsen rolled but Miller kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Miller gets his hands free as Nilsen looks to control.
Nilsen tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Miller takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Nilsen is squirming around, avoiding Miller's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nilsen is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Miller takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Nilsen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Nilsen is trying to escape the mount.
Nilsen wants to hold on but Miller pushes him away.
Nilsen is looking to get to half guard.

Miller is really struggling to control Nilsen but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jason Miller just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

and Miller counters with a two punch combo.
Nilsen shoots for a double leg takedown but Miller sprawls well. He's pushed Nilsen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Miller takes the fight into the clinch.
Nilsen drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Miller gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Miller wants the takedown. Nilsen is fighting it off but Miller persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Nilsen's guard against the cage.

Miller stands and steps away. Nilsen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Miller rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nilsen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nilsen shoots in for a double leg but Miller sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Miller stands up from Nilsen's guard - Miller perhaps looking for a knockout.
Miller throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nilsen's waist but Nilsen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Miller off to one side.
Nilsen closes the distance looking to clinch

and Miller counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nilsen is on top in guard.
Miller throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Miller looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nilsen is one step ahead there.
Miller is trying to keep Nilsen in close.
Nilsen wants to control from the top but Miller keeps moving.

Nilsen postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Nilsen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Miller takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Miller darts in and clinches Nilsen up against the cage.
Miller jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nilsen walks away with a smile on his face. Miller gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Miller misses the shot to the body.

Nilsen trying to control the position from guard on top but Miller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Nilsen looking to sit in guard and control but Miller gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nilsen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Miller's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Miller shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nilsen's guard.
Nilsen is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Nilsen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Miller gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
A bone on bone clash there as Nilsen blocks the leg kick.

Miller seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nilsen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Miller is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Nilsen has his hands clasped together around Miller's back. He's all about the action.
Miller content to control rather than advance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nilsen is trying to stand up here but Miller is controlling him well.
Nilsen regains full guard. Nicely done.
Nilsen wants to control the position but Miller says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Miller wants to get back to his feet.
Miller seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Miller is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Nilsen reverses the position - he's now on top in Miller's guard.
Miller wants to sweep but no luck.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nilsen content to stall in guard here.

Richard Nilsen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jason Miller is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Nilsen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jason Miller showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Miller has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
