The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from JAKA. No joy for Alves on that attempt.
Alves has JAKA up against the cage in a clinch.
Alves drags the fight down to the ground.
JAKA missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Alves is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Alves looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but JAKA puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
JAKA is trying to work for a kimura but Alves is defending well.

JAKA thows a huge punch but Alves dodges it nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alves wants to get back to full guard but JAKA has passed into side control.
JAKA won't let Alves get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
JAKA jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Alves manages to avoid the submission attempt.
JAKA looks gassed!
Alves tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but JAKA wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Alves wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Alves sneaks back into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves wants to improve his position but JAKA is controlling well.
Alves is staying active underneath JAKA, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Alves misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Alves missing with punches from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Alves pushes JAKA up against the cage in a clinch.
Alves has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed JAKA clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
JAKA is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Alves throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

JAKA breaks Alves's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Alves looking for a guillotine here but JAKA defends easily.
JAKA stands and throws Alves's legs to the side, diving into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Paull Alves will probably get the nod.

JAKA fails with the takedown
and Alves counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Alves scoring with some ground and pound.
JAKA trying to keep a closed guard but Alves is proving a slippery customer.
Alves throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as JAKA works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
JAKA is looking to stand up but Alves isn't so interested in that idea.
Alves postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Alves looking to sit in guard and control but JAKA gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Alves is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Alves is looking to take a break and control but JAKA is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
JAKA flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
JAKA is not content to let Alves control the position.
JAKA pushes Alves off looking to stand but Alves dives back in and keeps control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
JAKA keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Alves decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Alves stuffs the takedown attempt from JAKA. JAKA gets slowly back to his feet.
Alves tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but JAKA paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Alves scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
JAKA struggling a bit here.
Alves has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for JAKA!

JAKA tries to hold on but Alves postures up.
Alves lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Alves pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
JAKA is in a horrible position here. Alves smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Alves looking to finish JAKA with some ground and pound. This is bad for JAKA!
JAKA is trying to stand.
Alves scoring with strikes but JAKA is staying in there.

Alves lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
JAKA wants to hold on but Alves pushes him away.
JAKA is desperately trying to improve his position but Alves has a good base and remains in mount.
JAKA wants to control but Alves is having none of it.
A nice elbow there by Alves.
JAKA tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Alves lands a big shot there that rocks JAKA but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
JAKA wants to control but Alves is having none of it.

Paull Alves dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
JAKA shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
JAKA trying to control the action but Alves is working from the bottom.
JAKA is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Alves is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
