Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Simon Kurken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and al capone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Kurken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, al capone!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurken looks to land a combination. capone sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

It looks like al capone has been cut.

capone gets caught flat footed, as Kurken shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Kurken trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kurken postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kurken might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

capone looking for a guillotine here but Kurken defends easily.
Kurken scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
capone is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kurken trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Kurken drops back looking for a leg! capone is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and capone manages to kick Kurken off! Kurken jumps back into capone's guard.

Kurken stands up and waves to capone to follow him.

Kurken closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

capone is looking for a sweep. Kurken is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Kurken is working for a submission of some sort.
Kurken missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
capone trying to control from the bottom.
Kurken with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Kurken not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kurken prevents capone from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kurken misses with a head kick.

and Kurken counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kurken is taking a breather. capone says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Kurken is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
capone looks gassed!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
capone keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kurken in particular looking to stall.
Kurken wants to free his trapped foot but capone is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Kurken works his way into side control.
Kurken is staying tight to capone's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Kurken has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kurken throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kurken happy to just control the position for now.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Simon Kurken just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Kurken feints and as capone raises his hands in defense, Kurken changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kurken stays in close to capone's body and controls the position.
capone controls Kurken momentarily but Kurken frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Kurken gets a takedown into half guard.
Kurken winds up and cracks capone with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Kurken perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Kurken's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Kurken moves into full mount! capone won't be happy about that!

Kurken controlling the pace for now.

Kurken is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. capone is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. capone flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Kurken anticipates the leg and manages to get behind capone and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Kurken slips an arm under capone chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Kurken has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Kurken is squeezing on capone like an anaconda would it's prey. capone fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
