Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Saku Vuorinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Batista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Batista!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Vuorinen.
Vuorinen fails to land with a series of punches.
Batista takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Batista looks gassed!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vuorinen throws a left that rocks Batista and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Vuorinen dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Batista regain composure!


It looks like Dave Batista has been cut.
Batista takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vuorinen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Batista keeps working.

Vuorinen decides to stand back up. Vuorinen steps back and let's Batista get back to his feet.
Vuorinen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Vuorinen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Vuorinen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Batista manages to avoid it.
Vuorinen fails with an attempt to clinch.

Vuorinen misses with a low kick.
Vuorinen moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Vuorinen tries to clinch there but Batista circles away.
Vuorinen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Batista closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Vuorinen wants to get back to his feet but Batista drags him back down.

Vuorinen sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

and Batista counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Vuorinen's guard now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Batista stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vuorinen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Vuorinen is trying to control the position but Batista postures up.
Batista is in close to Vuorinen's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Batista slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Vuorinen is not content to let Batista control the position.
You can see the frustration on Vuorinen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Vuorinen pushes Batista away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Batista gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Vuorinen is looking to get back to his feet here but Batista is keeping cool and he's managed to take Vuorinen's back.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Vuorinen is trying to get back to his feet but Batista has full control of the position and if anything, Vuorinen has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Vuorinen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Batista can do anything to dispel that myth.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Vuorinen here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Batista cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Batista avoids the attempt from Vuorinen to control.
Vuorinen is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Batista postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Vuorinen looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Batista has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Vuorinen's face.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Saku Vuorinen.
I think Vuorinen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
