The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Abu.
Richards shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Abu manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Richards throwing strikes from guard but Abu blocks nicely.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Richards stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Abu works the jab nicely.
Richards fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Abu sprawls well initially but Richards persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Abu tries to kick Richards off but Richards keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Richards seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Abu does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Abu wants to control but Richards is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Abu is staying active underneath Richards, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Richards is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Abu kicks Richards off and gets back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Abu throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Abu misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hizkeel Abu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice sprawl there from Abu as Richards shoots in.
Richards avoids the body shot from Abu.
Abu closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Richards is rocked!
Abu has closed the distance and engaged Richards in a clinch.
Oh Richards is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Abu comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
A right hook to the body lands for Abu.
Abu displaying some good clinch control by pressing Richards up against the ropes.
Abu lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Abu lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Richards to his knees! Abu keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
