Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chico Corrales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Song (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corrales comes to the ring accompanied by Lets Stay Together - Al Green. The crowd seem to be enjoying Song's choice of entrance music: I Want to be More by Paul Dateh. Chico Corrales had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 136.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Chico Corrales has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chico Corrales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tim Song!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Song shoots in for a takedown but Corrales shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Song closes the distance and clinches up with Corrales, looking for a takedown. Song pushes Corrales against the ropes but Corrales circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A jab from Corrales finds it's way through Song's defenses.
Song shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Corrales but Corrales pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Chico Corrales has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Song.
Corrales connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Song's hands.

Song closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Corrales really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Corrales is trying to maintain the position but Song is very close to passing his half guard.
Song is pressing down on Corrales's thigh, looking to free his foot. Corrales is holding on for now.
Corrales gets full guard.

Song drops back looking for a leg! Corrales is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Corrales manages to kick Song off! Song jumps back into Corrales's guard.

Song looking to pass the guard.
Song is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Song drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Corrales dives on top into guard.

Corrales got a little sloppy there for a moment and Song has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Corrales has managed to get both his arms back between Song's legs - danger averted.
Corrales will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Song looks gassed!
Corrales wants to pass the guard but Song is keeping the position.

Song looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Corrales is stalling in the full guard.
Song throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Song working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Corrales has passed into half guard!
Corrales is taking a breather. Song says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Song is trying to control but Corrales manages to pass to mount!
Corrales prevents Song from getting the reversal.

Corrales looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Corrales lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Song hang on?
Song is trying desperately to improve position.
Song is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Corrales looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Corrales controlling the position easily from mount.
Corrales tries to control but Song wriggling away.
Song is looking to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chico Corrales dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Song takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Corrales avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Song looks for a takedown but Corrales sprawls well.
The fighters circling - Song throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Song tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Corrales swivels and escapes.
Song shoots in but no luck this time.
Chico Corrales has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Song.
Song shoots in for a double leg but Corrales sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Danga de danga de dang - Corrales scores with a four punch combination!
Corrales dodges the punch combination from Song.
Song dives in and grabs Corrales's left leg, looking for a takedown. Corrales pushes down on Song's head and hops out.
Corrales swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Song looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Corrales is fending him off so far but Song persists. Nope, Corrales circles away and we're back to standing.
Song is breathing heavily.
Song walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Corrales fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Corrales throws a one two combo.
Corrales misses with a double jab.
Song shoots in but no luck this time.
Corrales throws a series of punches but Song moves out of range.
Song slips a jab and a cross from Corrales.
Horrible takedown by Song or perhaps it was just good defense by Corrales which made him look bad.
A left and a right from Corrales both land. Nice combination.
Corrales lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Song backs up against the ropes.
Song throws a shot from downtown. Corrales moves away and avoids it.

Song shoots for a takedown but Corrales saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Song gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Song misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Corrales misses with a few strikes there.
Corrales throws a right and a left that both miss.
Chico Corrales is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Song looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Song dodges the punch combination from Corrales.
Song fails with a takedown attempt.

Corrales stuffs the takedown attempt from Song. Song gets slowly back to his feet.
Corrales displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Song.
Tim Song seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Corrales scores with a one two! Song had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Song lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

and Song counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Corrales!

Corrales sneaks back into half guard.
Corrales wants to control but Song is keeping busy.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Song decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Corrales's guard.

Song is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Song pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Corrales is keeping the position for now.

Song has gone for a leg lock! Corrales slips out almost immediately though and dives into Song's guard.

Song has his foot on Corrales's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Corrales works his way back into a safe position though.
Song wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Corrales is now in half guard.

Song looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Song is trying to get back to full guard.
Corrales is keen to just control but Song is a slippery customer.

Song is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Song is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Corrales trying to control the position from guard on top but Song is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Corrales throws a series of punches but Song moves out of range.
Corrales misses with a series of wild punches.
Tim Song has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Song shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Corrales as he jumps to the side.

Song gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Corrales to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Chico Corrales is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Corrales trying to control the position from guard on top but Song is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chico Corrales.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Corrales, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
