Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gary Groper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kalle Kinkeri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gary Groper could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Kalle Kinkeri's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gary Groper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kalle Kinkeri!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kinkeri scores with a crisp jab that stopped Groper in his tracks.
Kinkeri throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Groper is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kinkeri sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Groper changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kinkeri tries to avoid it but Groper manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kinkeri to the ground. Kinkeri escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kinkeri loads up on a big right hand but Groper slips the punch.
Groper moves out of range as Kinkeri strikes.
Groper takes a head kick and keeps coming.
A head kick misses from Kinkeri.
Kinkeri thumps Groper with a low kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Groper tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kinkeri swivels and escapes.

Kinkeri tries to clinch up.

Groper shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kinkeri napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Groper postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Groper is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kinkeri has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kinkeri manages to work his way to half guard, despite Groper's best efforts.

Groper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kinkeri is pressing down on Groper's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Groper is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Groper is breathing heavily.
Kinkeri is pulling down on Groper's head to control his posture.
Groper wants to pass the guard but Kinkeri is keeping the position.
Kinkeri wants to sweep but no luck.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kinkeri is on top in guard.

Groper isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kinkeri stacks Groper on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kinkeri!

Groper tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Kinkeri stands up and we're back to a striking position.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kinkeri looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kalle Kinkeri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kinkeri catches Groper with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Kinkeri throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Groper defending well as Kinkeri loads up on a big left hand.
Kinkeri pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Groper misses with a takedown attempt - Kinkeri sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kinkeri throws a leg kick but Groper moved away.
Kalle Kinkeri is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kinkeri works Groper's body with a nice hook.
Kinkeri wants to land a leg kick but Groper is out of range.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Groper slips under a jab.
Kinkeri misses with a body shot.
Groper slips a jab from Kinkeri.
Kinkeri tries to land a leg kick but Groper saw it coming and moves away.
Kinkeri throws out a loose jab but Groper uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kinkeri will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Groper uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kinkeri.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kinkeri takes a swing at Groper's ribcage but misses.
Groper keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kalle Kinkeri dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kinkeri misses with an uppercut. Groper saw that one coming.
Kinkeri displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Groper.
Kinkeri tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Groper dives in and grabs Kinkeri's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kinkeri pushes down on Groper's head and hops out.
Kinkeri throws a lazy right hand but Groper sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kinkeri smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Kinkeri throws a low kick, looking for Groper's leg but Groper calmly moves out of range.
Kinkeri looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Groper slips under a jab.
Kinkeri wants to clinch.
Kinkeri misses with a wild body shot.
Groper has a takedown stuffed.

Groper keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Groper shoots in and bounces Kinkeri off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Groper drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Groper jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Groper drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kinkeri manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Groper has Kinkeri in his guard.

Groper looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kinkeri passes into side control.
Groper is looking to reverse the position.

Kinkeri is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Kinkeri trying to control the position but Groper is working away.
Groper tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kinkeri wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Kalle Kinkeri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kinkeri waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Groper.
Groper fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kinkeri throws a head kick but Groper moves out of range.
Groper throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kinkeri's waist but Kinkeri gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Groper off to one side.

Kinkeri throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Groper shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kinkeri as he avoids it easily.

Kinkeri fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Groper is out of range.

Groper shoots in but Kinkeri avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kinkeri loads up on a big right hand but Groper slips the punch.
Kinkeri connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Kalle Kinkeri is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Groper fails to land the takedown.

Groper shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Groper seems to be working for a kimura but Kinkeri defends the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kinkeri manages to get to full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kinkeri can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kalle Kinkeri comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kinkeri has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
