The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Smith.
Smith throws a series of punches but Urkel avoids them all with ease.
Urkel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Smith avoids it really well and circles away.
Urkel closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Urkel pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Urkel will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gareth Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Urkel.
Urkel shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Urkel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Urkel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Smith looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Urkel shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Urkel has a takedown stuffed.
Urkel shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Urkel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Urkel closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Urkel pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Smith lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Urkel backs up against the cage.
Smith stuffs the takedown attempt from Urkel. Urkel gets slowly back to his feet.
Urkel avoids the head kick by Smith.
Smith leaves Urkel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Urkel shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense.
Urkel tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Urkel somewhat.
Danga de danga de dang - Smith scores with a four punch combination!

Urkel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Urkel is trying to get an arm triangle but Smith is defending well.

Urkel has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Smith is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Urkel yanks on the arm and Smith is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Urkel.
