Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Roysten Davids (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mariano Barbossa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barbossa looks for a takedown but Davids sprawls well.
Barbossa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Davids gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Barbossa counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Davids wants to sweep but no luck.
Barbossa wants to control from the top but Davids keeps moving.
Davids is adopting a defensive guard.
Davids is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Barbossa missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Barbossa throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Davids preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Barbossa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Davids counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Barbossa trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davids slips nicely into half guard.

Davids wants to work for an arm triangle but Barbossa is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Davids is taking a breather. Barbossa says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Davids is breathing heavily.
Davids tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Barbossa.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Barbossa closes the distance looking to clinch

and Davids counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Davids.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Barbossa manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Davids is trying to escape the mount.

Barbossa avoids the attempt from Davids to control.
Barbossa pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Barbossa with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Davids makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Davids.

Davids is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Barbossa defends well.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Barbossa has clasped his hands together around Davids's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Barbossa misses with the ground and pound.
Barbossa is chipping away with strikes.
Davids wants to get back to his feet.

Barbossa tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Davids prevents Barbossa from moving into mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Barbossa is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Davids knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Davids manages to work his way to half guard, despite Barbossa's best efforts.

Davids is pressing down on Barbossa's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Barbossa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davids swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Barbossa is posturing up here but Davids has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Barbossa tries to roll out but it's too tight and Barbossa has to tap! Slick submission there by Davids!
