PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Glen Burnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonard Kinney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kinney's choice of entrance music: Say It Ain't So. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Glen Burnett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Leonard Kinney!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burnett missing with a left hand there. Kinney was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The fight stays on the outside here - Burnett looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Burnett moves into the clinch.
Kinney is trying to drag Burnett to the mat but Burnett just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kinney stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Kinney fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kinney lands with a light punch inside.

Burnett turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Kinney tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kinney wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Burnett working away.
Burnett lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Burnett looks up at the clock and then as Kinney takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Burnett smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Burnett is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kinney has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kinney takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Burnett is trying to get an arm triangle but Kinney is defending well.
Kinney struggling a bit here.
Burnett wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kinney keeps working.
Burnett working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Burnett lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Burnett stands up.
Kinney shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Burnett sprawls well. Burnett wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kinney gets slowly back to his feet.
Glen Burnett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leonard Kinney.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kinney throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Kinney shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Burnett defends it nicely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Burnett.
Burnett is breathing heavily.
Kinney shoots in but no luck this time.
Kinney closes this distance looking for a takedown but Burnett circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kinney avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kinney looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Burnett is fending him off so far but Kinney persists. Nope, Burnett circles away and we're back to standing.
Kinney shoots in for a takedown but Burnett shows good takedown defense.
Burnett looks to land a body kick but Kinney moved away.

Burnett drives through and clinches with Kinney against the cage.

Burnett decides to pull guard.

Burnett is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kinney wants to get up but he can't break Burnett's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Burnett is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Burnett might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Burnett with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Kinney can't handle though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kinney tries to free his leg and advance position but Burnett is retaining full guard.
Burnett pulls Kinney in to control the position.

Kinney is sitting in close to Burnett's body. Burnett has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Kinney is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Kinney is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Burnett.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Glen Burnett!
