Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Anderson Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jerome McCool!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Bruno Lombardi and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCool misses with a jab, cross combination.
Alves shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McCool sprawls well. McCool wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Alves gets slowly back to his feet.
McCool throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McCool gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Alves counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for McCool!

Alves goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now McCool is on top in guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McCool is looking to advance position but Alves won't allow it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

McCool scrambles and gets back to his feet.
McCool fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Alves avoids it really well and circles away.
Alves stuffs the takedown attempt from McCool. McCool gets slowly back to his feet.
Jerome McCool seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McCool misses with a few strikes there.

Alves drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McCool manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Alves has McCool in his guard.
McCool is pushing down on Alves's leg trying to pass to half guard. Alves is fighting to maintain full guard but McCool has managed to sneak the leg through.
McCool has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
McCool lands a big shot there that rocks Alves but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Alves has gone for a leg lock! McCool slips out almost immediately though and dives into Alves's guard.

McCool thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Jerome McCool is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
McCool seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Alves had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McCool is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Alves Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take McCool's back instead.
