PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by Scream - Avenged Sevenfold. Jon Moore will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Moore!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson shoots in but no luck this time.

Moore gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Johnson jumps guard but Moore stands there with Johnson around his waist. Johnson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Johnson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Johnson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Moore stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Moore is pushing down on Johnson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Johnson is fighting to maintain full guard but Moore has managed to sneak the leg through.
Johnson is refusing to be controlled, as Moore sits in half guard.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Johnson is trying to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moore is looking to advance position but Johnson won't allow it.
Johnson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Moore is trying to control. Johnson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Moore throws a right and a left that both miss.
Moore with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Moore throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Johnson.
Johnson checks a low kick from Moore.
Moore rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Moore throws a sloppy head kick and Johnson moves out of range easily.
A punch combination from Moore misses.

Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Johnson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.


It looks like John Johnson has been cut.
Moore throws a body punch but Johnson moves out of range.
A combination from Moore does no damage.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Moore lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Johnson has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Johnson and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Moore closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Johnson to the mat! Johnson manages to get full guard.

Moore working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Moore chips away with some ground and pound.

Moore with a nice head shot there.
Moore advances position into side control!
Moore is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Moore wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Johnson, who protects the arm well.
Johnson tries to control but Moore manages to take his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Johnson trying to control but not successfully.
Moore is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Even with his hooks in, Moore manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Moore throwing sloppy strikes.
Moore is working the ground and pound. Can Johnson escape?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Moore dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John Johnson's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Moore is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Johnson's half guard.

Moore seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Johnson has recovered full guard.

Moore stands and steps away. Johnson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Moore throws a chopping leg kick but Johnson manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches up with Moore, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes Moore against the cage but Moore circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Johnson blocks the body kick.
Nice body punch from Moore.
Moore misses with a double jab.
Moore throws a front kick that sends Johnson stumbling back into the cage.
Moore throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johnson tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Moore moves in looking to clinch but Johnson pushes him off.

Moore closes the distance and clinches.
Johnson gets underhooks to prevent Moore's takedown attempt.

Moore has picked Johnson up - he's going for a ride! Moore dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Johnson controlling the position for now.
Johnson is looking for a sweep. Moore is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Johnson is staying active underneath Moore, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Moore wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johnson keeps working.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nice sprawl there from Moore as Johnson shoots in.
Moore fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Johnson on the side of the head.
Moore throws a series of punches but Johnson avoids them all with ease.
Moore lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Johnson circles away quickly and effectively.

Moore drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Moore trying to control the position but Johnson is working away.

Moore misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Moore wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johnson keeps working.
Johnson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Johnson tries to get out of the position.
Moore is staying tight to Johnson's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Johnson can't do much from the bottom here.

Moore looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Moore showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Moore shoots for a takedown but Johnson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Moore misses with a wild combination.
Johnson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Moore.
Moore attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Jon Moore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moore will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Moore pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Johnson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moore manages to get to full guard.
Moore has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Johnson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Johnson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Moore not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Johnson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Moore has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Moore is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Moore doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Moore looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Moore gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Johnson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Moore's guard now.

Johnson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Moore knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Johnson prevents Moore from improving his position.
Moore wants to get back to his feet.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Johnson in particular looking to stall.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Moore throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Johnson manages to pass to side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Johnson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Moore has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
