Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jill Leonard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sir Didymus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Didymus has chosen FACE Fighting as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jill Leonard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sir Didymus!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Leonard.
Leonard lands an elbow.
Leonard throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Didymus regains half guard there - taking advantage of Leonard's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Didymus is trying to control but Leonard manages to pass to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Didymus is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Didymus wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Leonard.

Leonard throws a wild left hand from mount and Didymus manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Didymus moves in looking to clinch but Leonard pushes him off.
Leonard rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Didymus moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Didymus closes the distance and clinches.
Leonard stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Leonard tries to break the clinch but Didymus is controlling the position.

Didymus jumps guard and drags Leonard to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Leonard has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Didymus is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Didymus is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Leonard defends well.

Leonard drops back looking for a leg! Didymus is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Didymus manages to kick Leonard off! Leonard jumps back into Didymus's guard.

Didymus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Leonard doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Leonard manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Leonard shoots in for a double leg but Didymus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Leonard tries to bum rush Didymus with a series of wild strikes but Didymus uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Didymus blocks the body kick.
Didymus defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Leonard.
Didymus throws a half hearted mid kick.
Didymus throws a push kick but Leonard slaps the foot to one side.
Leonard fails to land with a series of punches.

Didymus clinches up with Leonard and pushes him back against the cage.
Didymus tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Leonard smiles and moves away.

Didymus is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Leonard lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Didymus circles away quickly and effectively.
Leonard avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Didymus as Leonard shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jill Leonard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Leonard is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Didymus is looking to control Leonard's arms but Leonard gets an underhook and turns him. Now Didymus has his back to the cage.
Leonard tries to work over Didymus's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Didymus tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Didymus has clasped his hands together around Leonard's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Didymus is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Leonard is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Didymus might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Leonard kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee asks Didymus politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Didymus prefers to stall for the moment though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Didymus goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Leonard has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Didymus but great work by Leonard.

Leonard gets to his feet - Didymus follows without any prompting.
Jill Leonard is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Leonard throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Didymus.

Leonard gets caught flat footed, as Didymus shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Leonard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Didymus gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Didymus controls from within his opponent's guard.

Leonard had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Didymus is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Leonard Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Didymus's back instead.

Leonard is not going to allow Didymus to sit and survive in this position.
Leonard somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Didymus tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Didymus is looking to improve his position but Leonard isn't that keen on the idea.
Didymus reaches up and holds on to Leonard to control the position.

Leonard lands a heavy elbow.
Didymus tries to hold on but Leonard pushes him away.
Didymus manages to work a leg through to get back to half guard here. Good work there by Didymus, under a barage of strikes from Leonard.
Sir Didymus has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Leonard is looking to take a break and control but Didymus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Didymus is trying to control but can't.
Leonard tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Didymus.
Leonard looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Didymus is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Leonard pulls his head out easily.
Didymus wants to improve his position but Leonard is controlling well.
Leonard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Leonard not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jill Leonard.
I think Didymus has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
