Kaulaote kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Dead memories. Andersen has chosen Shout at the devil as his entrance music. Sakari Kaulaote has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kevin Andersen!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andersen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kaulaote pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kaulaote lands a nice shot to the body.
Kaulaote tries to clinch there but Andersen circles away.
Kaulaote lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Kevin Andersen has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
No luck for Kaulaote with that takedown attempt.

Andersen shoots in and bounces Kaulaote off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Andersen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Andersen throws a big right hand that misses.
Kaulaote utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kaulaote pulls Andersen in close to his closed guard and prevents Andersen from doing any damage or advancing position.

Kaulaote pushes Andersen off and gets back to his feet.
Kaulaote's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Kaulaote duly obliges.

Kaulaote is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Andersen's half guard.
Kaulaote slips a nice elbow through Andersen's hands, connecting with Andersen's forehead.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Andersen is refusing to be controlled, as Kaulaote sits in half guard.
Kaulaote looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Andersen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kaulaote lands strikes from half guard.
Andersen tries to get to full guard but Kaulaote has control of the leg.
Andersen is looking to get back to is feet but Kaulaote passes into side control.
Andersen looks gassed!
Andersen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kaulaote will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Andersen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Andersen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kaulaote. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kaulaote cracks Andersen with an elbow. That is naaassty.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Andersen can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kaulaote is chipping away with strikes.
Kaulaote slows the pace down.

Andersen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Kaulaote scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Andersen to see if he's OK.


That has opened up Kevin Andersen's cut even more.

The cut above Kevin Andersen's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kaulaote lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Andersen down.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kevin Andersen's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Kevin Andersen's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
