Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Shamrock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Axel Van Dam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shamrock comes to the cage accompanied by Rockstar. Van Dam has chosen Beatdown - Gunman Joe as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shamrock checks the leg kick nicely there.
Van Dam has a takedown stuffed.
Van Dam swings for the body but Shamrock moves out of range.
Van Dam fails with the takedown.

Shamrock moves into range and clinches up with Van Dam.
Shamrock tries to break the clinch but Van Dam is controlling the position.
Shamrock lands a hook to the side of the head.
Shamrock fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Shamrock is looking to break free of the clinch but Van Dam has double underhooks.

Van Dam manages to break the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Mark Shamrock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Axel Van Dam.

Shamrock has hold of one of Van Dam's legs. Van Dam is fighting the takedown attempt but Shamrock gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Van Dam working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shamrock doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Van Dam is tightening it up a little... Shamrock has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Shamrock reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Shamrock taps out! nice BJJ there by Van Dam!
