Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ty Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Haiki Masatupo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Haiki Masatupo enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ty Angle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Haiki Masatupo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Angle.
Masatupo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Angle wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Masatupo, who protects the arm well.
Masatupo can't do much from the bottom here.

Angle tries for a kimura but Masatupo is defending well.
Masatupo is trying to get back to half guard.
Masatupo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Angle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Angle is trying to get an arm triangle but Masatupo is defending well.
Masatupo is trying to improve his position.
Angle prevents Masatupo from escaping the position.

Angle wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Masatupo, who protects the arm well.

Angle thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Masatupo clinches but Angle breaks the clinch

and Angle counters with a takedown into side control.

Angle tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Angle has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on Masatupo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Angle shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Masatupo defends it nicely.

Masatupo moves into the clinch successfully.
Masatupo manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Masatupo stops a takedown attempt from Angle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ty Angle. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Haiki Masatupo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Angle's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Masatupo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Angle paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Masatupo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Angle, pushing him back against the cage.
Masatupo lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Angle drops down looking for an ankle pick but Masatupo pulls his leg out and moves away.
Angle fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

and Angle counters with a single leg into guard. Masatupo didn't expect that.
Masatupo has Angle pulled in close to control his posture.
Angle won't allow Masatupo to get back to his feet.
Masatupo is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Let's hope that Masatupo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Angle postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Masatupo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Angle, into his guard.
Masatupo stays in close to Angle's body and controls the position.

Angle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Masatupo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Masatupo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Angle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Masatupo has managed to get both his arms back between Angle's legs - danger averted.

Angle has Masatupo pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Masatupo manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
