PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Lesnor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pena comes to the cage accompanied by I Need You. The key to victory for Ryan Pena has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brock Lesnor!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lesnor.
Pena looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Lesnor wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pena, who protects the arm well.
Lesnor should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Lesnor wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pena keeps working.
Pena parries the strikes from Lesnor easily there. Lesnor is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Pena to escape.
Lesnor creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Pena is trying to get back to his feet.
Pena prevents Lesnor from moving into mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pena is looking to reverse the position.

Lesnor decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Pena fails with the takedown

and Lesnor counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Lesnor is looking to work some ground and pound but Pena has wrist control.
Lesnor cracks Pena with a solid left hand.
Lesnor's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Lesnor gets to his feet. Pena looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Lesnor thows a body shot but no joy.
Lesnor doesn't manage to clinch there - Pena circles away.

Lesnor moves into the clinch.
Pena stops a takedown attempt from Lesnor.

Pena tries to break free but Lesnor pushes him back against the cage.

Lesnor pulls guard effortlessly.
Lesnor controls Pena momentarily but Pena frees himself.

Lesnor wriggles free and stands up.
Pena leaves Lesnor with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pena fails with an attempt to clinch.

Lesnor has taken the fight to the clinch.
Lesnor wants to break the clinch but can't.
Lesnor slowing the pace effectively.
Lesnor fails to pull guard.
Ryan Pena has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brock Lesnor.

Pena breaks from the clinch.
Pena doesn't manage to clinch there - Lesnor circles away.

Lesnor closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pena did well to prevent Lesnor getting side control.

Pena is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Pena is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Lesnor trying to hold on to Pena's head to control him but Pena postures up.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Pena darts in trying to clinch

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lesnor stands up and beckons Pena to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Lesnor or perhaps it was just good defense by Pena which made him look bad.
Pena leaves Lesnor with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Lesnor drives through and clinches with Pena against the cage.

and Lesnor counters with a shoot takedown. Pena fights it but they end up in guard.
Lesnor is in close to Pena's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Despite being in a bad position, Lesnor is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts.
Pena is looking to control Lesnor but Lesnor is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Lesnor turns into Pena and is now in his guard.

Lesnor stands up from Pena's guard - Lesnor perhaps looking for a knockout.
Pena throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ryan Pena is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lesnor throws a low kick but Pena avoids it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pena looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A decent looking cross lands there for Lesnor.

and Pena counters with a leg kick.

Pena makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pena.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pena is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Lesnor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Lesnor throws a body punch but Pena moves out of range.
Lesnor tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pena sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lesnor somewhat.
Lesnor is looking to land body kicks.
Lesnor has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Lesnor fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lesnor closes the distance and clinches up with Pena, looking for a takedown. Lesnor pushes Pena against the cage but Pena circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Lesnor changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pena fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Lesnor tries to pull guard but Pena holds him up against the cage and eventually Lesnor drops back down to his feet.

Pena tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lesnor fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Lesnor looks to land a body kick but Pena moved away.

and Pena counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Pena tries to clinch but Lesnor is having none of it.
Lesnor keeps the fight on the outside.

Lesnor clinches up against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ryan Pena has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Pena would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Brock Lesnor is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Lesnor is looking for a triangle but Pena pushes his legs off easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Brock Lesnor.
I've got Lesnor winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
