Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between El Condor Ruiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deon Reddings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruiz comes to the cage accompanied by http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LrHfxW4XOg. The crowd seem to be enjoying Reddings's choice of entrance music: Hurt. Deon Reddings looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, El Condor Ruiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Deon Reddings!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reddings wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Reddings has a takedown stuffed.
Ruiz with a poor takedown

and Reddings counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Reddings postures up.

Ruiz throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Ruiz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reddings gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ruiz wants to stand and escape but Reddings is having none of it.

Ruiz looking for a guillotine here but Reddings defends easily.

Reddings gets to his feet - Ruiz follows without any prompting.

Ruiz misses with a takedown

and Reddings moves into the clinch.
Ruiz slows down the pace here.
Reddings lands a hook to the side of the head.
Ruiz blocks an elbow strike.
Reddings is looking to control Ruiz's arms but Ruiz gets an underhook and turns him. Now Reddings has his back to the cage.
Reddings drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ruiz tries to pull guard but Reddings holds him up against the cage and eventually Ruiz drops back down to his feet.

Reddings has Ruiz pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Reddings pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ruiz tumbling to the mat - Reddings dives into Ruiz's guard.
Ruiz throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Reddings counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ruiz!
Reddings prevents Ruiz from getting the reversal.
Ruiz wants to hold on but Reddings pushes him away.
Ruiz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Reddings has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ruiz's face.

Ruiz wants to control but Reddings is having none of it.
Ruiz keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Reddings throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Reddings breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
El Condor Ruiz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ruiz doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Reddings counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Reddings.

Reddings jumps guard.
Ruiz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ruiz won't allow Reddings to sweep him here.
Ruiz with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Ruiz wanted to stand there but Reddings had control of the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Despite being in a bad position, Ruiz is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts.
Reddings wants to control but Ruiz is keeping busy.

Ruiz manages to reverse the position and now he's in Reddings's guard. Nice work there by Ruiz.

Ruiz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ruiz postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Reddings is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ruiz, into his guard.

Reddings decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Ruiz misses with a takedown attempt
and Reddings counters with a big head kick but Ruiz shrugs it off.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for El Condor Ruiz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Reddings throws a half hearted mid kick.
A lazy left from Reddings finds it's target.
Ruiz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Reddings cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Ruiz counters with a shoot takedown. Reddings fights it but they end up in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Deon Reddings showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Ruiz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Reddings is trying to improve his position.

Deon Reddings has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ruiz stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

and Reddings counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Ruiz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Reddings is aware though and is defending well.

Ruiz is looking to stand up but Reddings isn't so interested in that idea.

Reddings is in close to Ruiz's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Ruiz's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Reddings seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ruiz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Reddings moves into range and clinches up with Ruiz.

Ruiz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Reddings looks for a takedown but Ruiz sprawls well.

Ruiz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Reddings was covering up waiting for the punch and Ruiz finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Ruiz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Reddings keeping full guard, as Ruiz tries to pass.

And that's the end of the fight!
El Condor Ruiz showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Reddings has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
