Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Battaile Fauber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fauber is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I Like Big Butts. Battaile Fauber is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fauber fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mendes manages to avoid it.
Fauber looks to land a combination but Mendes avoids it well.
Fauber jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Mendes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mendes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fauber.
Fauber looks for a takedown but Mendes sprawls well.
Fauber tries to score with a low kick but Mendes moves his leg out of the way.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fauber throws a body kick that misses.

Fauber decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mendes keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Mendes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fauber on the ground.
Mendes trying to control but Fauber postures up.
Fauber has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Fauber is working for a kimura but Mendes is defending it quite comfortably.
Mendes is trying to escape back to his feet but Fauber uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Fauber tries to score with some ground and pound. Mendes controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The referee asks Fauber politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Fauber prefers to stall for the moment though.
Mendes wants to get back to his feet.

Mendes is trying to get back to half guard.
Mendes wants to control but Fauber postures up.
Mendes holds on to Fauber's head and controls the position momentarily.
Fauber misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Fauber tries for a kimura but Mendes is defending well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mendes is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Fauber asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Mendes trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Mendes is not content to let Fauber control the position.

Fauber thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Fauber is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mendes is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

The fighters circling - Fauber throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Mendes throws a series of punches but Fauber avoids them all with ease.
Fauber rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mendes moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mendes blocks a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Fauber.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fauber goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Mendes rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Fauber's guard! Nice work there by Mendes!

Fauber looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Mendes is defending well. Fauber quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Mendes has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Fauber celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
