Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Colton Cates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter has chosen 99 Problems Remix as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Carter!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter lands with a shot to the body.
Cates throws a series of punches but Carter avoids them all with ease.
Carter misses with a two punch combination.
Carter fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Cates.
Colton Cates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carter throws a nice looking combination but Cates bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cates throws a left and a right that both miss
and Carter counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cates tries for a takedown but Carter circles away easily
and Carter makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Carter cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Carter's corner calls for a 1-2. Carter obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Carter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cates circles away quickly and effectively.

Carter lands a head kick that stumbles Cates and the fighters go to the mat.

Carter lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Carter.

Carter fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cates on the side of the head.
Oh Cates is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Carter looks to land a combination. Cates sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Carter throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Cates stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Carter follows into mount!

Carter stands up from mount. Strange move.

Carter looks to land a combination but Cates avoids it well.
Cates seems to have got his legs back now.
Carter paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Carter fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Cates throws a left and a right that both miss
and Carter makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Carter is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round!Cates had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Carter scores with a leg kick.
Oooh a lovely combination from Carter sends Cates down but not out. Carter dives into side control looking to finish.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Carter decides to stand back up.
Cates has his takedown stuffed
and Carter counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Colton Cates. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carter misses with a wild combination.
Carter tries to bum rush Cates with a series of wild strikes but Cates uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Cates wants to clinch but Carter slips to the side
and Carter counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Cates shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Carter napping and manages to drive through into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Nice uppercut lands for Carter. That snapped Cates's head back.

Cates shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cates is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Carter misses with a few strikes there.
Carter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Carter cracks Cates with an open hand slap.
Cates walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Carter scores with a jab.
Cates takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Carter lands a nice shot that snaps Cates's head back.

and Carter counters with a left and a right... And another left! Cates is down! He's done! The ref dives in to save him and that's the end of the fight!
