The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Eyricus sprawls well. Eyricus wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Eyricus on that attempt.
A chopping leg kick lands by Jones.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Eyricus swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jones showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Eyricus.
Jones fails in his attempt to clinch.

and Eyricus counters with a shoot takedown. Jones fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Eyricus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Eyricus is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Eyricus is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Eyricus uses his free foot to push down on Jones's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jones.
Jones is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jones has given up his back here. Will Eyricus look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Eyricus is cranking Jones's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Jones! He's tightened the choke and Jones is tapping out!
