PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Daluz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yacoub Qura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Qura comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Finest - MF Doom kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nelson Daluz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yacoub Qura!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jorge Garcia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daluz fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Qura is out of range.
Daluz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Qura circles away quickly and effectively.
Daluz throws a front kick aimed at Qura's knee but Qura avoids it well.
Qura misses with a combination

and Daluz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Daluz.
Daluz is looking to stand up but Qura won't let him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Daluz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Qura swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Qura kicks Daluz off and gets to his feet.
Qura swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Daluz counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Qura!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Qura tries to hold on but Daluz pushes him away.
Qura holds on for dear life.

Daluz trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Qura is trying desperately to improve position.
Qura is trying to stand up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Daluz trying to control but Qura is having none of it.
Qura is bucking up trying to escape but Daluz cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Qura wants to get back to his feet.
Qura tries to hold on but Daluz pushes him away.

Daluz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Qura is looking to escape.
You get the feeling that Qura really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Daluz wants to control the pace but Qura is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daluz misses with a head shot.
Daluz is looking to stand but Daluz has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Daluz unloads with some shots from mount but Qura bucks and avoids them well.
Qura manages to work a leg through to get back to half guard here. Good work there by Qura, under a barage of strikes from Daluz.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Qura misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Daluz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Qura displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Daluz.
Daluz is breathing heavily.
Qura defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Daluz.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nelson Daluz dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Qura scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Qura takes the fight into the clinch.
Qura has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Qura breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Daluz counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looks like Daluz is going to stand back up.
Daluz is stalling here. Qura is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Daluz seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Qura has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Qura decides to stand back up. Qura steps back and let's Daluz get back to his feet.

Yacoub Qura showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Nelson Daluz's cut.
That's time! Daluz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


A left and a right from Qura both land. Nice combination.
Daluz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Qura lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Daluz has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Daluz and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Qura swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Qura wants to land a leg kick but Daluz is out of range.

and Qura counters with a good low kick that Daluz was not able to check.

Qura wants to stand and escape but Daluz is having none of it.

Qura uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Qura throws a right and a left that Daluz avoids nicely.
Daluz shoots in but no luck this time.
Qura cracks the inside of Daluz's front leg.
Qura throws a nice looking combination but Daluz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Daluz is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Qura.

Qura fails to land with a series of punches.

Qura lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Qura lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Daluz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Qura.
Nelson Daluz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Qura misses with a few strikes there.

Daluzis looking to pass into half guard but Qura pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Qura is in guard.
Qura wants to stand but Daluz has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Nelson Daluz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Daluz has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Qura has passed into side control.
Daluz can't do much from the bottom here.

Daluz on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Daluz tries to get out of the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Daluz looks to move to half guard but instead Qura has passed into mount! Damn!

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Yacoub Qura.
I think Qura has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
