PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dough Brinks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BIG Daddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). BIG Daddy struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dough Brinks!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, BIG Daddy!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daddy fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Brinks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Brinks keeps Daddy at a distance using the push kick.
Nice sprawl there from Brinks as Daddy shoots in.
Daddy throws a body kick the misses

and Brinks counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Daddy is trying to get back to full guard.
Brinks slows the pace down in half guard.

Brinks seems to be working for a kimura but Daddy defends the submission attempt.
Well, if Brinks is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Daddy preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Brinks content to control rather than advance.
Brinks thows a huge punch but Daddy dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brinks wants to take a breather but Daddy is having none of it.
Daddy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Brinks's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Brinks's back!
Daddy keeps control of the position as Brinks tries to break free.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Brinks wants to control his opponent's hands but Daddy gets his hands free.
Daddy is looking to control Brinks but Brinks is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Brinks tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Daddy trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Daddy looks gassed!
Brinks keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

A nice elbow there by Daddy.
Brinks is squirming around, avoiding Daddy's attempts to control the action.
Brinks really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Brinks bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Daddy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Brinks throwing strikes from guard but Daddy blocks nicely.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Daddy is trying to keep Brinks in close.
Brinks wants to pass the guard but Daddy is keeping the position.
Brinks thows a big elbow that misses.
Brinks works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Daddy is refusing to be controlled, as Brinks sits in half guard.
Daddy moves into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dough Brinks dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Brinks fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Daddy, pushing him back against the cage.
Brinks is trying to maintain a safe position but Daddy gets an underhook and turns Brinks into the cage.
Brinks is trying to drag Daddy to the mat but Daddy just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Brinks on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Brinks tries to pull guard but Daddy holds him up against the cage and eventually Brinks drops back down to his feet.

Brinks pulls guard successfully.

Brinks has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Daddy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Daddy with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Daddy postures up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Daddy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Daddy trying to stand up but can't free himself from Brinks's guard.

Daddy wants to control from the top but Brinks keeps moving.
Daddy with a flurry of punches that miss.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Daddy fails with the takedown

and Brinks counters with a shoot takedown. Daddy fights it but they end up in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brinks looking to sit in guard and control but Daddy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Daddy wants to stand but Brinks has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Brinks looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Daddy passes into side control.
You can see the frustration on Brinks's face as Daddy controls the position.

Brinks tries to improve position but can't.

Daddy decides to stand up, so the ref orders Brinks to his feet.
Daddy tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Brinks decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Daddy's guard.

Brinks gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Daddy shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Brinks manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Brinks is on top in guard.
Daddy wants to stand but Brinks is controlling the position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dough Brinks dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Brinks throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Daddy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Brinks darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Dough Brinks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Brinks stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Daddy to get to his feet.

and Daddy counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Daddy.

Brinks escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Daddy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Brinks wants to sweep but no luck.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Daddy controlling from the top position.
Brinks is looking to stand up but Daddy isn't so interested in that idea.

Daddy gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Daddy throws a predictable looking body shot
and Brinks counters with a head kick. That will keep Daddy thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Daddy is looking to clinch but Brinks is avoiding it.

Daddy has managed to clinch.
Brinks connects with a knee to the head.
Brinks takes a shot to the head.

Daddy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Daddy shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brinks sprawls well. Brinks wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Daddy gets slowly back to his feet.
Daddy is looking to clinch.

and Brinks counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Daddy thinking.
Brinks tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Daddy paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Daddy scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Daddy stands up and beckons Brinks to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brinks fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Daddy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Daddy throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Daddy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Brinks holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Dough Brinks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BIG Daddy.

Daddy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Daddy darts in and clinches Brinks up against the cage.

Brinks ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Brinks no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Brinks is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Brinks is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Daddy controls from within his opponent's guard.
Brinks wants to stand up but Daddy is controlling him.
BIG Daddy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dough Brinks is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Daddy distracts Brinks with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

And that's the end of the fight!
BIG Daddy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Brinks has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
