PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Santos Villavera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Valdema Severino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Santos Villavera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Valdema Severino!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Emerson Jorge and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Villavera throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Severino sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Santos Villavera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Villavera misses with an uppercut. Severino saw that one coming.

Severino fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Villavera sprawls well initially but Severino persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Severino prevents Villavera from improving his position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Severino connects with a nice short shot to Villavera's temple.
Severino seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Villavera knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Severino on the ground.

Severino wants to lay and pray for a moment but Villavera keeps working.
Villavera pushes Severino off looking to stand but Severino dives back in and keeps control.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Severino lands a nice short elbow.

Villavera bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Severino's head backwards.

Villavera tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Valdema Severino has got the better of the ground game so far.
Severino lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Villavera's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Villavera is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Severino has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Severino is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Villavera is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Severino lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Villavera down.

I would just about give that final round to Valdema Severino.
I've got Severino winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
