Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tonying Americano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Robertson!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson avoids the head kick by Americano.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Robertson has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
A head kick lands from Americano that sends Robertson to the canvas. Robertson tries to scramble back to his feet but Americano brings him back down into side control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Robertson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Americano wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Robertson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Americano off and has taken his back!
Robertson seems to have recovered his senses.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Robertson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Americano has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Americano throws a sloppy head kick
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Robertson in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
