PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paolo Mac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Tyler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mac kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Last Song. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tyler is defended easily by Mac.
Mac could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Tyler misses with a few strikes there.

Mac is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Tyler is controlling him.

Mac wants to stand and escape but Tyler is having none of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

I looks like Tyler might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Tyler's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Tyler stops Mac from standing up.
Mac might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jake Tyler just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fight stays on the outside here - Tyler looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Tyler takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Mac throws a right and a left that Tyler avoids nicely.
Tyler looks for a takedown but Mac sprawls well.
Tyler shoots for a double leg takedown but Mac sprawls well. He's pushed Tyler's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Tyler shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mac as he avoids it easily.

Tyler shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mac pinned against the cage. Mac gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mac will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Tyler shoots in but Mac avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Tyler changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mac tries to avoid it but Tyler manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mac to the ground. Mac escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A nice inside leg kick there by Mac. That's going to slow Tyler down.
Mac connects with a high kick.
Mac will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Tyler tries to free his leg and advance position but Mac is retaining full guard.
Mac wants to get back to his feet but Tyler is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Mac takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Tyler fails with the takedown
and Mac counters with a three punch combo that has Tyler backing up. Tyler nods at Mac to acknowledge the strikes.

Tyler takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Tyler stops Mac from getting back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Horrible takedown by Tyler or perhaps it was just good defense by Mac which made him look bad.

Mac swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Tyler misses with a double jab
and Mac counters with a body kick.
Tyler tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mac swats him away and circles back towards the center.

I think Tyler has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
