Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Pate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack LeBalls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack LeBalls has the eye of the tiger tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pate defending well as LeBalls loads up on a big left hand.
Pate is on the wrong end of a nice combination from LeBalls.

LeBalls gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pate to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Pate throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Pate wants to pass the guard but LeBalls is keeping the position.
Pate throws a strike but LeBalls rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and LeBalls counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pate's guard now.

Pate lands a big shot there that rocks LeBalls but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if LeBalls can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Pate lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and LeBalls has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from LeBalls and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Pate motions for LeBalls to come forward. Pate throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
LeBalls looks to land a combination but Pate avoids it well.
Pate jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Pate misses with a body kick.
Pate misses with a looping right.
LeBalls looks for a takedown but Pate sprawls well.
LeBalls checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Pate tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
LeBalls misses the shot to the body.
Pate throws a leg kick but LeBalls sees it coming and checks it nicely.

LeBalls throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Pate misses with an uppercut. LeBalls saw that one coming.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
LeBalls tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
LeBalls throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pate tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and LeBalls is able to avoid easily.
Pate throws the kick towards the body but LeBalls avoids it.

LeBalls shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pate napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pate is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Pate will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Pate throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! LeBalls escapes and throws Pate's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Pate is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Jake Pate overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

LeBalls is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pate is just riding it out for now. LeBalls eventually gives up the hold.

Pate tries to roll over but LeBalls keeps him under control.

LeBalls will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pate takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
LeBalls just misses with a punch to the body.

LeBalls lands a right hook to the body.
Pate looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? LeBalls is fending him off so far but Pate persists. Nope, LeBalls circles away and we're back to standing.
Pate looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Pate will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Pate is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Pate's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Pate closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pate lands in his opponent's guard.

LeBalls is trying to trip Pate. He has hold of a leg but Pate is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. LeBalls persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Pate bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in LeBalls's guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jake Pate.
I think Pate has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
