PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacque Strap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cassius Slay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Strap kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Thunderstruck by ACDC. Slay has chosen Wu-Tang Clan - Triumph as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A decent looking cross lands there for Strap.
Strap defending well as Slay loads up on a big left hand.
Slay works over Strap's head and body with a nice combination.
Slay lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Strap tries to close the distance and clinch up but Slay swats him away and circles back towards the center.
No joy there for Slay, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Slay misses with a wild combination.
Strap dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Strap shoots in for a takedown but Slay shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Slay lands with a hook. Strap tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Strap throws a right and a left that both miss.
Donk. Slay catches Strap right on the button with a cross.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Slay looks to land a combination but Strap avoids it well.

Strap fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Slay looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Strap is rocked!
Slay shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Strap as he avoids it easily.
Oh Strap is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Strap throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Strap seems to have got his legs back now.
Strap tries to clinch up but Slay circles away and keeps his distance.
Slay digs a good body shot into Strap's ribs.
Slay throws a right hand that Strap ducks under and follows up with a left that Strap also avoids with ease.
Strap misses the jab.
Slay throws a right and a left that both miss.
Slay slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Slay swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Strap.

A punch lands to the side of Strap 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Strap tries to close the distance and clinch but Slay swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cassius Slay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Slay blocks a head kick by Strap.
Slay tests Strap's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Slay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Strap manages to avoid it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Slay.
Jacque Strap has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cassius Slay.
Slay circles away from the clinch attempt.

Slay throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Strap counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Strap tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Slay avoids it.
Slay on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Strap prevents a takedown attempt there.
Slay tries to break free but Strap pushes him back against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Slay wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Slay blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Slay is trying to break the clinch but Strap is controlling him.
Slay is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Slay lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Strap or not.
Strap is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Strap goes for a takedown in the clinch but Slay prevents it.
Slay has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Strap prevents the takedown attempt.
Slay lands an uppercut.

Strap escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Strap takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Slay dives in and grabs Strap's left leg, looking for a takedown. Strap pushes down on Slay's head and hops out.

Strap looks to land a body kick but Slay moved away.

Strap misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Slay throws an overhand right that lands on Strap's shoulder, as Strap tries to avoid the shot.

Slay wants to break the clinch but can't.

Strap pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jacque Strap is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Slay uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Strap has time to react.

Slay shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Strap defends it nicely.

Slay drops Strap with a naaaaasty hook - Strap is in real trouble here! Slay dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
