Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Puska!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howell misses with a wild body shot.
Puska shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Howell pinned against the cage. Howell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Howell tries to close the distance and clinch but Puska swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Howell shoots and misses

and Puska holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Puska looking for a takedown.
Howell tries to break the clinch but Puska is controlling the position.
A bit of stalling here from Puska.
Howell pressing his opponent against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Howell drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Howell looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Howell prevents a takedown attempt there.
James Howell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Puska.
Howell gets underhooks to prevent Puska's takedown attempt.
Howell is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Howell looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Puska thows a big elbow that misses.
Howell is looking to stand up but Puska isn't so interested in that idea.
Howell is looking to stand back up but Puska counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Howell.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Puska is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Howell gets full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Howell holds on and takes a little breather.

Howell is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Puska is controlling him.
Puska looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Puska stopping the sweep attempt from Howell.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Puska prevents Howell from getting back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Puska accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Howell holds on and takes a little breather.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Puska decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Howell, up you get!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Paul Puska will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Howell shoots and misses

and Puska counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Howell is trying to stand up here but Puska is controlling him well.
Puska is taking a breather. Howell says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Howell is looking for a sweep. Puska is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Puska should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Well, if Puska is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Howell is not content to let Puska control the position.

Puska performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Howell is looking for a sweep. Puska is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Puska trying to advance position but Howell counters by regaining guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Puska is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Howell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Puska is one step ahead there.
Puska tries to free his leg and advance position but Howell is retaining full guard.
Puska wants to control from the top but Howell keeps moving.
Howell trying to keep a closed guard but Puska is proving a slippery customer.
Howell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Howell has his foot on Puska's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Puska works his way back into a safe position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Puska shoots in and bounces Howell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Puska thows a big elbow that misses.
Puska trying to control the position from guard on top but Howell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Puska prevents Howell from getting back to his feet.

Puska showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Howell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Paul Puska showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Howell gets caught flat footed, as Puska shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Puska wanted to stand there but Howell had control of the position.
Howell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Howell is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Howell has his hands on Puska's head, controlling the position.

Puska wants to control from the top but Howell keeps moving.
Puska takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Puska stays in close to Howell's body and controls the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Howell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Puska manages to get himself to full guard.
Howell pushing down on Puska's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Howell tries to stand but can't do so whilst Puska controls his leg.
Puska is looking to improve his position.
Puska wants to control the action here but instead Howell manages to pass to full mount!

Howell controlling the pace for now.
Puska tries to hold on but Howell pushes him away.
Puska is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Howell sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Howell looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Puska working to try and regain half guard.

Howell working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Howell looking to land elbow strikes but Puska uses the position to regain half guard.
Paul Puska is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Paul Puska.
I've got Puska winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
