Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between john johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ron Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Nice takedown defense from johnson. No joy for Wood on that attempt.
Wood shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has johnson pinned against the cage. johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Wood tries to close the distance and clinch up but johnson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Wood looks to land a combination but johnson avoids it well.

Wood drops back, looking for a kneebar! johnson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. johnson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from johnson!

Wood is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, johnson asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Wood jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as johnson walks away with a smile on his face. Wood gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Wood manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
johnson wants to control from the top but Wood keeps moving.
Ron Wood has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
johnson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Wood is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked johnson off and has taken his back!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to john johnson.
Well johnson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
