Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Petey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seamus Thurston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thurston tries to close the distance and clinch up but Petey swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Thurston fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Petey avoids it really well and circles away.
A slow jab from Petey misses its intended target.

Petey stuffs the takedown attempt from Thurston. Thurston gets slowly back to his feet.

Thurston misses with a takedown attempt - Petey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Thurston shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Petey but Petey pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Petey lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Thurston feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Thurston drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Petey manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Thurston has Petey in his guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Petey throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Thurston closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Thurston lands in his opponent's guard.

Thurston drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Thurston jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
