Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Helen Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guy Downs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Helen Davies!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Guy Downs!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downs lands a nice shot that snaps Davies's head back.
Davies fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Davies jumps guard but Downs stands there with Davies around his waist. Davies gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Downs is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Davies gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Davies is trying to trip Downs. He has hold of a leg but Downs is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Davies persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Downs tries to get to full guard but Davies has control of the leg.

Downs is looking to get back to full guard here but Davies has managed to pass to side control instead.

Davies thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Davies gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Davies tries to close the distance and clinch up but Downs swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Davies fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Downs avoids it really well and circles away.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Davies darts in and clinches Downs up against the ropes.

Downs decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Downs tries for a takedown but Davies sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Downs is trying hard to land a takedown here. Davies sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Downs decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Davies, up you get!

Davies stops a takedown attempt from Downs.
Davies using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Downs has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Downs wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Davies has him pressed against the ropes.
Davies prevents the takedown attempt.
Davies jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Downs walks away with a smile on his face. Davies gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Downs is looking to take a break and control but Davies is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Davies tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Davies is trying to get back to his feet.
Downs trying to control the position but Davies is working away.
Downs moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Downs tries for a kimura but Davies is defending well.
Davies is not content to let Downs control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Downs decides to stand up, so the ref orders Davies to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Guy Downs showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Davies is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Downs's half guard.
Davies wants to free his trapped foot but Downs is holding on for dear life with his legs.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
Downs manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Davies manages to get himself to full guard.
Davies might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Helen Davies will probably get the nod.
