The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Souza as he avoids it easily.

Souza closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Gracie jumps guard but Souza stands there with Gracie around his waist. Gracie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Souza blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Gracie gets underhooks to prevent Souza's takedown attempt.

Souza gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Gracie tries to get to full guard but Souza has control of the leg.

Gracie tries to hold on but Souza pushes him away.
Gracie is looking to improve his position but Souza isn't that keen on the idea.

Souza lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Gracie tries to reverse the position but Souza maintains control.
Gracie is squirming around, avoiding Souza's attempts to control the action.
Souza prevents Gracie from getting the reversal.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gracie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Souza takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
