PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dexter Rutecki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Hanna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rutecki comes to the cage accompanied by Remember the Name. Hanna has chosen Lunatic Fringe-Red Rider as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanna checks the leg kick.
Rutecki tries to clinch up but Hanna circles away and keeps his distance.

and Hanna counters with a shoot takedown. Rutecki fights it but they end up in guard.

Hanna is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Hanna decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rutecki, up you get!
Hanna fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Rutecki has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hanna is working for takedown but Rutecki is calmly controlling the position for now.

Rutecki manages to break the clinch.

Rutecki feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rutecki is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hanna is trying to get back to full guard.

Hanna slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Rutecki is looking to stand up but Hanna won't let him.
Rutecki has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Hanna working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rutecki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rutecki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hanna has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rutecki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hanna manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Hanna gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Rutecki swats away the attempt to clinch by Hanna.
Hanna looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rutecki is fending him off so far but Hanna persists. Nope, Rutecki circles away and we're back to standing.
Dexter Rutecki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Hanna.

Hanna moves into range and clinches up with Rutecki.

Rutecki breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rutecki misses with a low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Rutecki avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Rutecki has managed to clinch.

Rutecki wants the takedown. Hanna is fighting it off but Rutecki persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Hanna's guard against the cage.

Rutecki is sitting in close to Hanna's body. Hanna has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Rutecki is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Rutecki is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Hanna.
