Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Schuman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). D has chosen Nine Inch Nails - The Great Destroyer as his entrance music. Big D is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Schuman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Big D!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

D rushes Schuman and presses him up against the cage.
Schuman gets underhooks to prevent D's takedown attempt.
D misses with a knee strike.
D tries for a takedown but Schuman manages to get underhooks.
Schuman drops down looking for an ankle pick but D pulls his leg out and moves away.
Schuman throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Schuman clinches but D breaks the clinch

and D counters with a nice double leg into side control. Schuman won't be happy with that.
Schuman is looking to reverse the position.
A lull in the action here as D stalls from top position.
D trying to control the action but Schuman is working from the bottom.
D working the ground and pound.

The referee asks D politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. D prefers to stall for the moment though.

D tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no D has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
D wants to control but Schuman is keeping him busy.
Schuman on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Schuman tries to get out of the position.
D is working Schuman over with some ground and pound from side control.
You can see the frustration on Schuman's face as D controls the position.
Schuman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but D wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

D is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Schuman has escaped the position, nice work there.
Schuman is looking for a sweep.
D wants to lay and pray for a moment but Schuman keeps working.

D is nestled in close to Schuman, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

D lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Schuman has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, D escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by D!

D stands up.

D drives through and clinches with Schuman against the cage.
D has Schuman pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Schuman manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Dan Schuman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big D.

D is trying to trip Schuman. He has hold of a leg but Schuman is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. D persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Schuman controls D momentarily but D frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
D distracts Schuman with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Schuman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. D is aware though and is defending well.
D passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Schuman takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schuman tries to control but D manages to take his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

D looking for the choke but no joy.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
D doesn't have the hooks in and Schuman manages to turn into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big D dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


D tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

D closes the distance and clinches.
D tries for a takedown. No joy.
Schuman is pressed up against the cage. D has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Schuman down to the mat. Schuman avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

D is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Schuman's half guard.
Schuman is looking for a sweep. D is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Big D has got the better of the ground game so far.

D is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Schuman sees it coming and defends easily.

D has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

D looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Schuman is in all sorts of trouble here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

D takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

D working for a guillotine from mount but Schuman is in no mood to give up.

D with shots to the head and body - Schuman looks very uncomfortable down there.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, D cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

D lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
D working the ground and pound effectively.
Schuman is working to get back to half guard.
Schuman is bucking up trying to escape but D cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

D with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

D lands a nice shot to the head.

Schuman tries to escape but D has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
D has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Schuman's body.
D landing with strikes.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Oooh a big shot gets through from D. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
D has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Schuman.

D is looking for the choke from the back position but Schuman is controlling his hands well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big D showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Schuman throws a jab but it's blocked by D.

D decides to stand up, so the ref orders Schuman to his feet.
D closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
D throws a nice looking combination but Schuman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
D tries to clinch up but Schuman circles away and keeps his distance.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from D is defended easily by Schuman.

D has picked Schuman up - he's going for a ride! D dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

D decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Schuman throws a left and a right that both miss

and D counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
D tries for a takedown but Schuman manages to get underhooks.

D has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Schuman clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
A bit of a pause in the action here. D controlling the positon.
D gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.

D looking for the choke but no joy.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Schuman rolls, trying to escape but D keeps control of the position.
D is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Schuman. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
D throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Schuman!
Schuman turns into D and is now in his guard.
D is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

D controls Schuman momentarily but Schuman frees himself.

Schuman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and D dives on top into guard.
Schuman has momentary wrist control but D slips an elbow through the middle.
D trying to control the position from guard on top but Schuman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

D is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Dan Schuman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
D passes into half guard.
D working the head and body with strikes.
D is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

D is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Schuman is looking for a sweep. D is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Big D is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
D has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
D is taking a breather. Schuman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

And that's the end of the fight!
Big D comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got D winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
