Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Doby Burkhardt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Rabbit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burkhardt comes to the ring accompanied by Smokestack Lighting - Howlin' Wolf. Rabbit comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hero by Skillet kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Doby Burkhardt could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Johnny Rabbit's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Doby Burkhardt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Rabbit!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yuuki Gou and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Burkhardt as Rabbit shoots in.
Rabbit fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Rabbit counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Burkhardt!

Rabbit jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Burkhardt manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Rabbit thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Rabbit is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Burkhardt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Burkhardt is trying to get back to his feet.
Burkhardt wants to control but Rabbit postures up.

Rabbit tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rabbit has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

so Rabbit counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Rabbit drops back looking for a leg! Burkhardt is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Burkhardt manages to kick Rabbit off! Rabbit jumps back into Burkhardt's guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Burkhardt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rabbit was covering up waiting for the punch and Burkhardt finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Burkhardt has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Burkhardt got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rabbit has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Burkhardt has managed to get both his arms back between Rabbit's legs - danger averted.

Rabbit is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Burkhardt frees his head nicely. Oh but Rabbit has switched to an armbar! Burkhardt is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
