PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raymond slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). slice comes to the cage accompanied by ultimate fighter song. Edgar has chosen Moby - Bodyrock as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raymond slice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Edgar!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Edgar closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Edgar is thwarting slice's attempts to control the position.
Edgar is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Edgar not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Edgar content to control rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Edgar is keen to just control but slice is a slippery customer.
slice is looking to control Edgar's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can slice avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

slice could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Edgar connects with a nice short shot to slice's temple.

Edgar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around slice's waist but slice gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Edgar off to one side.

A frustrated look appears on slice's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Edgar gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Edgar is pushing down on slice's leg trying to pass to half guard. slice is fighting to maintain full guard but Edgar has managed to sneak the leg through.
Edgar working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
slice is staying active underneath Edgar, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

slice is trying to drag Edgar to the mat but Edgar just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Edgar feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Edgar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. slice looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
